Local food and produce
There are many foods indigenous to Cornwall, but the most famous is the Cornish Pasty. No trip to Looe would be complete without sampling a delicious Cornish Pasty, a scrumptious dessert topped with clotted cream, rich creamy fudge or, with the thriving fish quay of Looe on our doorstep, fresh fish and seafood.
Every baker has his or her version of the ‘proper’ Cornish Pasty, but the best known one is with a filling of meat and potato, flavoured with onion and turnip or swede. There are many variations on the traditional fillings - try a sweet pasty with jam or apples, or how about fish? But where do you find the best pasty? It’s a brave person who would dare say, the advice would be - try them all and judge for yourself! Each year there is a food festival and food tastings organised by TASTE SE Cornwall. www.taste-southeastcornwall.com
